Educating its adolescent girls has proven to be the cornerstone of Kenyan development, yet so many are denied equal access to education, social and economic equality and respect. The half-hour documentary Graceland Girls provides an intimate look at how the high school students at Graceland Girls School in central Kenya have, so far, defied the odds.


Winner of the Director's Guild of America Jury Prize

Graceland Girls was honored with the Director's Guild of America Jury Prize for the women filmmakers category. The awards are designed to honor, encourage and bring attention to exceptional minority and women directors in film schools and select universities across the country.


Academy Award Nominee & Women Deliver Cinema Corner Official Selection

Graceland Girls is a 2013 Student Academy Award Nominee and will be featured at the Women Deliver 2013 Conference, May 28 - 30 in Malaysia, where advocates and experts come together for one of the largest global meetings to focus on the health and well-being of girls and women. In addition, Maria Menounos and Emerson College honored Director, Jordan Salvatoriello, this spring with the "Take Action Hollywood" Award for excellence in social issue storytelling. Graceland Girls was also awarded the 2012 Caucus for Producers, Writers and Directors Foundation Grant intended to combat the lack of diversity in content and creative people in the industry. www.caucusfoundation.org
